Sinossi e dettagli:
1994. In seguito all'improvvisa morte del nonno, un operaio inglese di Liverpool, la nipote scopre la sua militanza in Spagna durante la guerra civile, frugando tra carte, fotografie, articoli di giornale e un panno rosso contenente della terra. Da qui si snoda il percorso del giovane David Carr che, nel 1936, decide di arruolarsi nella milizia internazionale del Poum (Partido Obrero de Unificación Marxista) per combattere contro i franchisti: faranno presto seguito gli scontri interni alla sinistra e la delusione ideologica. Alla passione politica si intreccia anche quella amorosa per Blanca, compagna di lotte.
